random recipes #40 – round up

29 June 2014 by Dominic Franks

… an amazingly random array of entries this month to celebrate my 40th edition, so let’s not mess around and kick off in style…

first off the mark this month was the delightful Choclette from Chocolate Log Blog with a very sophisticated Burnt Butter Cupcakes chosen from page 40 of her 40th cookbook Nigella’s How to be a Domestic Goddess
next up is Shaheen from A2K with these totally random Soft Centered Celery Cookies randomly selected from Vegetable Desserts: Beyond Carrot Cake and Pumpkin Pie by Nadine Abensur
and here’s Caroline from Caroline Makes with her very special Queen Cakes or Blueberry Muffins taken from page 40 (or there abouts) of Easy Cupcakes from Marks and Spencer
next along the random recipes train of madness is Galina from Chez Maxima and a stunning Focaccia Ripiena randomly selected from Italian Home Baking by Gino D’Acampo
here’s Rachel from the brilliant My Life In Knitwear and some rather sophisticated Garibaldis taken from Tea Time Treats by the Yorkshire County Federation of the WI
next up is Laura from I’d Much Rather Bake Than… with some rather special Strawberries and Champagne Boozy Butterfly Cupcakes taken from another Marks and Spencer book, My Little Afternoon tea Book
and here’s poor, dear Jane from Onions and Paper… i’m thinking of renaming random recipes to disaster recipes just for her and her Savour Drop Scones taken from River Cottage Every Day
next is Sally from Recipe Junkie with a successful Fresh White Bread – low-knead of course – randomly selected from page 40 of The River Cottage Family Coobook
a little burning goes a long way if you’re Ros from The More Than Occasional Baker with these Mixed Fruit Muesli Slices taken from The Australian Women’s Weekly Little Squares and Slices
of course, let’s not forget little old me at Belleau Kitchen and my gorgeously green chilled pea and mint soup taken from page 40-ish of
the A Love for Food by Dayelsford
here’s the lovely karen from Lavender and Lovage with some very pretty and very summery Tabbouleh Stuffed Tomatoes randomly selected from a book called Tapas

next up is Kate the Gluten Free Alchemist with a stunning Cherry Pancake found on page 40 of the Brogdale Stone Fruit Recipe Book

and here is the world weary Christian from Cooking Around the World with a delicious and very moreish looking Pizza with Potatoes and Thyme taken from Cook in Boots or rather the native Kochen in Steifeln by Ravinder Bhogul

and next is Alexandra from The Lass in the Apron with a breathtaking Mint cumin Roast Lamb taken from Nigel Slater Tender

And finally here’s Alison from Dragons and Fairydust with Layered Cheesy Vegetables taken from a never before cooked from Quick and Easy Vegetarian Cooking by Sarah Brown

well, that’s your lot, once again I thank you for taking the time to challenge yourselves so brilliantly month after month… next month I have something rather lovely up my sleeve so I do hope you’ll join in the randomness of it all!
eat and of course, enjoy!

Great round up, Dom. I've never been a fan of Garibaldi biscuits, but those homemade ones look delicious.

What a fabulously random selection! Looking forward to next months challenge especially as I have now learned how to embed a Random Recipes button into my blog – who says you can't teach an old dog new tricks?! xx

Fabulous round up! That pizza with potatoes looks especially good and I'm not even going to pretend that I'm afraid of carbs on carbs – the tomatoes in there balances it out surely?!

Drop scones, Welsh cakes and the like are tricky blighters and it took me a few turns to stop burning them (crosses fingers). Those cherry pancakes have given me cherry lust. Fab round-up Dom – look forward to next month's fun 🙂

Some lovely recipes. I didn't quite get around to making Ken Hom's chicken and cucumber stir fry so we'll never know what that's like!

Some lovely recipes here – I made my fish pie and it was very nice but it didn't manage to make the pages of my blog. With one thing and another my poor blog has been neglected of late. I hope I have better luck next month.
